HOW ACCOUNTABLE ARE OUR POLITICIANS? | Webinar Recording
A webinar presented by Julie Haggie
NZ is considered one of the least corrupt nations in the world, but just how accountable are our politicians to the laws and regulations in place and basic Kiwi values? And how adequate are those laws and regulations in the first place? How do special interest groups exert undue influence in the political process? What is being done to ensure that political decision-making is transparent and that governments work for the benefit of all, not just those with power and influence? What do NGOs need to know about how special interest groups work around existing safeguards to disrupt the democratic process?
These are some of the questions we explored with Julie Haggie, Executive Director of Transparency International New Zealand.
